Ford - Personalize Your Drive with Technology

Researchers from Ford and Intel are working on the Mobile Interior Imaging. This technology allows the vehicle owners to look in to the car even from distance through cameras and sensors set in the vehicle. Apart from this the camera could be combined with facial recognition software in order to recognize the driver and then permit him to drive or not.  Programmable key fob would allow parents to set restrictions on speed limit, audio volume. The gesture recognition system along with voice commands is also implemented to simplify tasks like turning heat up and down or opening and closing a sunroof while driving.

This technology recognizes different drivers and also adjusts the features depending on the individual preference. Sometimes certain features are allowed or denied to reduce driver distraction. No matter key in hand, the car driving time limit can be set even from remote.

Our goal with the Mobii research is to explore how drivers interact with technology in the car and how we can then make that interaction more intuitive and predictive,” says Paul Mascarenas, Ford's chief technical officer and vice president for R&D

If this comes out well then this will really be the car of future.
