Ford has revealed new details of the 2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost which is most fuel efficient 7 passengers SUV on the market.
The 2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost is powered with an all new 2.0L 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine system which produces 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The class leading fuel economy rating of the car is 20 mpg on city and 28 mpg on highway while the standard V6 engine system delivers 17 mpg on city and 25 mpg on highway.
The 2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost has combination of superior fuel efficiency and ample responsiveness which is enabled by direct gasoline injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing. The efficiency is enhanced through low friction 5W GF5 motor oil, variable displacement air conditioning compressor, electric power assisted steering and unique 6F35 six speed automatic transmission developed to reduce friction.
The 2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost features smooth vehicle shape, careful aerodynamic detailing like optimization of front air dam and rear liftgate spoiler lip and lightweight components such as an aluminum hood. The 2012 Ford Explorer Explorer is assembled at Ford Chicago Assembly Plant.
