Honda revealed new Honda Fit EV concept car

Honda the Japanese car manufacturer has revealed new Honda Fit EV concept car which is based on Honda Fit with new mid sized plug in hybrid system on Los Angeles auto show.
Honda Fit EV conceptThe Honda Fit EV concept car is powered with 2.0L i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine system coupled to CVT transmission. The all electric version of 5-door car is powered with lithium ion battery fueling coaxial high density electric motor resulting from FCX Clarity fuel cell electric car.

The Honda new plugin hybrid technology that was revealed is not mentioned mid range model. The car features a 6kWh lithium-ion battery and a 120 kW electric motor which produces 161 bhp. In electric mode the plug-in hybrid car has a range of around 10-15 miles in city driving and features a top highway speed of 62 mph.

The Honda Fit EV will have a top speed of 90 mph and a range of 100 miles on the US EPA cycle. The car will have a 3-mode driving system Econ, Normal and Sport. The Charging of car will take less than 12 hours on a conventional 120 volt outlet and less than 6 hours on 240 volt outlet. The batteries recharging takes 2 to 2.5 hours with 120-volt outlet which is half with 240 volt outlet.

The Honda Fit EV concept car is headed for production which will be going to make its first debut at Japanese and United States in 2012.
