Toyota the Japanese car maker has revealed new details of Toyota FT-86 model. The FT-86 car will be badged as Scion for US market and likely to sell in the name FR-S.
The Toyota FT-86 will be powered with a 2.5L Boxer engine system instead of 2.0L that had been announced earlier. The FT-86 is a mutual production of Toyota and Subaru. The Subaru version of FT-86 tagged as 216a will be equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine system producing 260 hp.
Toyota and Scion marketing executives were informed the decision was made to shore up Scion brand which is stressed in US and only perform fine in a few regions of country mostly in California and Texas. The sales of FT-86 under Scion brand would remain its selling price steady and low.
Toyota also reports that it has information related to European market release for Subaru version of FT-86. The FT-86 will be expected to sell in other world markets in Asia and other countries exclusively under Toyota symbol.
Toyota FT-86 will be going to make its first debut in 2012. The car will be available for sales with dealers shortly after its debut and cost of the car is $25,000 in US.
