Ford announced EcoBoost engines

Ford the US car manufacturer has announced EcoBoost engines will be available in C-Max, F-150 and next generation Explorer.


The C-Max will be powered with a 1.6-L 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine system which will deliver quick acceleration and class-leading fuel economy. The redesigned Explorer will offer a 2.0-L 4 cylinder EcoBoost with bestin class fuel economy and V6 performance. The F-150 will receive a 3.5-L V6 EcoBoost which has been upgraded for rear wheel drive.

Ford said in a report that it will deliver best-in-class fuel economy along with the power and towing capability of a V8. All three engines will be initiated by the end of the year. With the newest statement Ford is fine on their system to manufacture 1.5m EcoBoost engines yearly. If all goes according to plan EcoBoost engines will be available in 80% the company models by 2013.

When discussion about EcoBoost engine Ford stated 98% of North American products will be outfitted with 6 speed transmissions with manual, automatic, and double-clutch by the end of 2012. Moreover 20% of Ford will feature an engine stop/start system by 2014.
